Nurse practitioner (NP) practice is one that empowers nursing professionals to practice at advanced levels where their skills and contributions hold important positions in ensuring the health of patients.
Oregon operates the “full practice” regulatory structure which places no limits on the ability of the NP to carry out duties that they have been trained for. NPs are more likely to gain job fulfilment in such an environment and this can present numerous advantages for patient health. NPs and nurses must join hands in advocacy to see that the National Academy of Medicine’s encouraging of the implementation of the full practice structure is accepted in all states.
