Purpose for the scholarship To support minority doctoral students who have strong interests in and commitment to a research career in sociology.
Requirements to qualify? Applicants must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the U.S., been lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence, or are eligible under DACA; members of any underrepresented racial/ethnic minority group in the U.S. (e.g. Blacks/African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians or Pacific Islanders, or American Indians/Alaska Natives); and, enrolled in (and have completed one full academic year) in a program that grants the Ph.D. in sociology.
Selection criteria among applicants Selection will be based on their commitment to research, the focus of their research experience, academic achievement, scholarship, writing ability, research potential, financial need, and racial/ethnic minority background.
