To support local students pursuing degrees in healthcare or public safety fields.
Applicant must be a resident of Wirt or Wood counties in WV; must be postsecondary students who have completed at least two full years of postsecondary education; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA; must be pursuing a degree or certification in healthcare professions (nursing, medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, physician’s assistant, EMT, paramedic, pharmacy, physical therapy, dentistry, chiropractic) or Public Safety Management (firefighter, fire safety personnel, police officer, public information officer, homeland security).
Selection based on academic potential and community service. Preference is given to: Wood County residents; to students with military experience (full or part-time); to students who have participated in a college ROTC program; and/or to students who have worked or volunteered in the areas of healthcare professions or public safety.
