An Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) post-master’s certificate program is a specialized educational program designed for nurses who already hold a master’s degree in nursing and wish to pursue additional training and certification as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

The program typically focuses on developing advanced clinical skills in caring for adult and elderly patients. The curriculum covers topics such as advanced pharmacology, pathophysiology, health assessment, and diagnostic reasoning. AGNP students also learn about providing primary care and managing acute and chronic illnesses in the adult and geriatric population.

Upon completion of an AGNP post-master’s certificate program, graduates are eligible to take the AGNP certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Upon successful completion of the certification exam, they may practice (if already licensed in their state) as Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioners in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, and private practices.
