To provide Colorado Nurses Foundation is dedicated to improving health care and nursing practice in Colorado. The foundation began Oct. 3, 1987, as the Nursing Institute of Colorado. Although the name has changed, the mission of the organization has remained essentially the same: to advance nursing in Colorado through education, advocacy, and recognition.
Applicants must be Colorado residents committed to practicing nursing in Colorado; must be students in an approved Colorado Nursing Program; must have a minimum of 3.25 GPA (for undergraduate applicants) or 3.5 GPA (for graduate applicants); and must have one of the following student statuses: (1) Junior or senior level BSN undergraduate students; (2) RN enrolled in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing program in a school of nursing; (3) Students in second year of nursing studies in an associate degree in nursing program; (4) RN with master’s degree in nursing, currently practicing in Colorado and enrolled in a doctoral program; (5) Students in second or third year of a Doctorate Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
Selection will be based on professional philosophy and goals; dedication to the improvement of patient care in Colorado; demonstrated commitment to nursing, critical thinking skills and potential for leadership; involvement in community and professional organizations; GPA-minimum of 3.25 undergraduate, 3.5 graduate; financial need; recommendation of one faculty member; and employer/supervisor recommendation.
